Growing up with limited means can be a tough experience, but for Trevor Cherewka it signalled the beginning of life as an entrepreneur.
As a kid, at any given time, you could find Trevor mowing lawns, shovelling snow, delivering papers, or collecting bottles. As he matured, so did his businesses. Trevor began working in the entertainment space booking bands and managing live events.
Trevor credits having children for introducing him to the world of sales. After marrying his wife and having their first child, Trevor decided it was time to get “a real job”, something with a consistent schedule and a bigger paycheque.
“I bought a shirt, a tie, a handful of Zig Ziglar sales books, and even a name placard – remember those – and I took a job in an office. I was going to take on the world one sales call at a time. And for a time, I did. Life was good. I was a sales manager with a company card, making a lot of money. The only problem was that I was always building someone else’s dream.”
14 years later, Trevor was inspired by his background in sales to do something that could help others achieve more sales and success in business. He took the plunge and created his own marketing and creative company, Smashing Pixels Inc.
Community has always been important to Trevor.
After careful consideration, Trevor decided to relocate his office to Brantford’s Downtown core. This strategic move allowed them to increase accessibility for clients, providing them with ease of access to services. The central location also allows them to take advantage of the area’s amenities, such as restaurants, shops, and other business resources.
“Being in the downtown business core means you are connected to the city’s energy and vibe. You hear everything that is going on and things that are happening before the rest of the city does because people in the downtown core are talking about it. It also allows us to introduce clients who are new to Brantford to the numerous restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs that are in the area. For those who grew up in Brantford, it brings them back to the downtown area, and everyone has stories that they often like to share. Most of our clients have been with us for years, and that’s because we understand the lifetime value of a business relationship.
