MANDATE: 

The BIA (DBBIA) has a two-fold mandate:

• To improve, beautify and maintain public lands, buildings and structures within the area, beyond that which is provided by the municipality at large (private lands, buildings and structures); and
• To promote the area as a business and/or shopping area.

5.  ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/DISCUSSION

 

5.1       Event changes – Suggested Motion:

WHEREAS the Downtown Brantford BIA (DBBIA) Board of Management approved funding for The Garage: Urban Night Market;

WHEREAS due to the City of Brantford, The Garage: Urban Night Market had to be cancelled;

WHEREAS the DBBIA prepared a motion for Brantford City Council requesting compensation, copies of relevant reports, and the assignment of a senior City staff member to assist in facilitating future DBBIA events;

WHEREAS the Chair of the DBBIA Board of Management requested that the motion be removed from the Committee of the Whole meeting agenda;

WHEREAS City of Brantford staff have indicated that the DBBIA may receive compensation of approximately $11,000;

WHEREAS All Day Breakfast has proposed a new event, The Mall: Holiday Night Market, to be held at One Market;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the DBBIA Board of Management approve the allocation of any unused funds originally approved for The Garage: Urban Night Market and up to $5,000  (from Special Projects), if needed, to be put towards the organization and delivery of The Mall: Holiday Night Market, to be held on December 12, 2026, at One Market.
